Garland Gene Newman Obituary

Requiem aeternam dona ei, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat ei. Fidelium animae, per misericordiam Dei, requiescat in pace. ~ Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and may perpetual light surround him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

73, my friend, until we meet again.

You will be missed my friend. May you rest in peace.

Two years ago, I met Garland while attending the Garland Amateur Radio Club's class for beginners. His wonderful humor and terrific, positive, attitude immeasurably impressed me. May God give his relatives and friends comfort and peace during their bereavement, and may Garland's soul rest in peace with our Lord.

I got to know Garland especially well while driving him back and forth from dialysis. I always took the more scene route, and we would discuss the landscaping, how his family was doing, and all of his hobbies and passions. I was one of the first people he confided in when he learned that Peggy was dying and when she passed. He always had a joke to share and a great book to recommend--I'm actually reading one of his favorites

He always had a joke to share and a great book to recommend--I'm actually reading one of his favorites right now. He was eager to get to know people and loved a good hand of poker, leading our poker club at The Monarch. I miss him terribly, but I'm glad to know that he is no longer in pain, no longer missing Peggy. He was a very good friend, and I celebrate his life.

I am so very sorry to hear of Garland's passing. He is already missed by a great many of his friends at the GARC. Blessings to you especially at this difficult time.

Distance kept us from knowing each other better as cousins often do but Garland's responses to Facebook posts were similar to my reactions. Had we lived closer I am certain we would have been good friends.
