Donald Max Christie Jr. of Garland, TX, beloved father and brother passed away on May 29, 2021 in Dallas, TX. He was preceded in death by and will be reunited with his parents, Donald Sr. and Doris. Don was born in Hackensack, NJ on January 22, 1946. His father helped him find his lifelong love of bagpipes at a young age and would drive him into Canada every week to receive piping lessons. When Don relocated to Texas, he played with the North Texas Caledonian Pipes and Drums for several years. During his free time, he loved to teach others how to play the bagpipes.

Don was passionate about his career in teaching and taught for 29 years until he retired in 2004. Even after retirement, he couldn't stay away from teaching and spent several years as a substitute teacher. Throughout his career, he taught and inspired so many of his students with his love of science and conducting experiments.

Don is survived by his wife Flordeliza, and their children, Donald III and Annaliza, all from Garland, and his daughters, Cuyler and Laura of Madison, CT. Survived by his brother David and his children, Stacey and Tiffany. Survived by his sister Cheryl and her husband Morris Sr. and their children Cody, Morris Jr., and Jena.

If you gave Don the chance, he could talk to you for hours about his love of history, his heritage, and his family. He was well loved by his family and friends, and will be greatly missed.

A Memorial Service will be held at Charles W. Smith & Sons of Lavon, TX on Saturday June 5, 2021 at 2:00 PM.
